Any other approach is contrary to the Baptist understanding of baptism, and inconsistent with the witness of church history.

Abraham Booth was a leading Particular Baptist minister in the eighteenth century, and the pastor of Little Prescott Street Baptist Church in London from 1768 to 1806. This work, originally entitled An Apology for the Baptists, was considered the foremost defence of restricted communion in the eighteenth century, and remains relevant and important for questions of church order in the present day.
